She has been a familiar face on the BBC, ITV, PBS Newshour, Channel 4 and CNN. As the Face of Pakistan’s first English news channel DawnNews she was named amongst Newsweek’s Top 100 Women to Shake Pakistan. Saima Mohsin has covered some of the world’s biggest stories including the the shooting of Malala Yousafzai, capture and killing of Osama Bin Laden, the assassination of Kim Jong Nam, the Brussels terror attacks, Missing Plane MH370, the Rohingya crisis in Myanmar and Benazir Bhutto’s assassination.
Saima has excellent investigative skills & the ability to connect with and report on people from diverse backgrounds often in the most extreme circumstances, she is well aware of local sensitivities and taboos and handles herself with care and consideration for both the subject matter and the people involved.
Saima has presented on BBC News, ITV News & Channel 4 News alongside the great Jon Snow. She has also presented the World Today for BBC World Service Radio & BBCOne’s Watchdog. After the 7/7 bombings Saima presented a Debate Show for Channel 4 on suicide bombings and the future of British Muslims.
Saima was editor & presenter of the first ever nightly news analysis show at 9pm to be hosted by a woman in Pakistan. Saima Mohsin presented the landmark BBC series Horizons travelling around the world in search of sustainable solutions for the future.Notably Saima has investigated Human Slavery in South East Asia for CNN, was asked to film & follow the UN investigation into drone attacks by Special Rapporteur Ben Emmerson. Saima covered the Gaza conflict in 2014, Polio crisis & attacks on UN/local staff in Pakistan, the South Asia floods in 2010 & covered the Taliban’s takeover of Swat Valley when she secretly interviewed Malala’s father nightly by phone & continued coverage of girls’education in Swat for many years after. She has interviewed world leaders like Hillary Clinton, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, foreign ministers, ambassadors and the odd celebrity like Tom Cruise & Bollywood Superstars Amitabh Bachchan, Ashwariya Rai … this list goes on.
She is proud to come from a working class, British Pakistani and muslim background, a Crystal Palace football fan she works closely volunteering with the Palace for Life Foundation.Saima sings everything from soul to choral works & has sung with Johann Sebastian Bach Choir. She has acted in musicals and is very comfortable on set on location too.
